My FAVORITE Michael video on Youtube...

I found this video a couple months ago. The person who made it (samhath) did a REALLY GOOD JOB! They captured all that Michael Jackson intensity in this video. Really cool. Take a peak.

Las Vegas....[[I can't wait for the SUMMER]]

Las Vegas

Okay. I know I am not the only person in the world who cannot wait for the Summer season to come already. I find that strange too (lol). I used to hate Summer! It's too hot and it's just bright and sunny. Not saying that I despise bright and sunniness. I am just more of a Fall & Winter type of person (coldness and rain are like my favorite things haha..does that make me sound like a bad person?). I just cannot stand heat. I cannot stand it at all.

For some reason though, I am just excited about this Summer. I have so much to do this Summer. Going to Summer sessions @ my school and working are on the top of my list though. In everything you do, try to get ahead (and I've already delayed school enough so, I need to get the ball rolling!). I would say the #1 thing I am excited about this Summer of 2010 is Las Vega, Nevada.

My girls and I have made a little pact that we are gonna make a Vegas trip annually. Lets hope we can keep that up (lol). I think it's coming to a time where we are all headed in diffrent directions but hey, that's life. Anyways, last Summer (at the end of the Summer) we went to Vegas. It was my first trip to Vegas, I had NEVER been there before. I had fun. Seeing all the diffrent sites and such BUT my body had never been through anything like Vegas before.

All that walking around (in HEELS) , partying, and moving around had taken quite a toll on my body ( I did loose weight though (lol). I ate a whole bunch of food and didn't gain a pound because of all that walking....in HEELS). So on the second night, instead of partying and going out..I stayed in the B-E-D.

So, this Summer I am ready to redeem myself. Not saying I'm gonna go out there and get drunk and act like Keily Williams and things of that nature. I just want to experince more of Vegas than I did when I was there the last time.

So...(Tj, Ally, Sherrice..and hopefully Erica) here's looking to Vegas! Can't wait to go and Summer cannot get here fast enough.

Lena Horne dies at age 92

Rest In Peace Lena Horne.....

June 30, 1917 to May 9, 2010

The first time I ever saw Lena Horne perform anything was when I was 5 or 6 years old. I was watching "The Wiz" (which also happens to be my favorite movie of all time!).  She played Glinda, the Good Witch of the South and she performed that song at the end "If You Believe In Yourself". Her part in one of my favorite parts in the film even though she's only on screen for what seems like 2 to 5 mintues (lol). I love the way she delivered the song and every time I watch the movie or here that song I will wave my hands in the air and be like "Yaaaassss Lena!" (lol I always say Yaaasss anytime I feel like someone slayed in a song). It's sad to know that she is gone but I know that she is in a better place. And to be abset from the body is to be present with the Lord so I am not gonna be sad for her at all. Rest in Peace Lena!

Lena Horne lead a FULL life. To be in your 90's is a wondeful thing despite the fact that most of us Americans are checking out of here in our 60's and 70's. She did wonderful things with her life also. She performed at The Cotton Club in NY and stared in movies like "Cabin in the Sky" and "Panama Hattie". Lena also released A LOT of albums (lol). She also won numerous awards too. Yes, she lived a full life. RIP Ms. Lena!! You go giiiirrrl!

Now Diana Ross is the only surving cast member of "The Wiz". I'm gonna watch that movie today.

B-E-Y-O-N-C-E is back....I guess

I haven't been doing this blog "thang" for awhile now..was truly getting over it lol. Plus I have work and school so I put this thing on the back-burner. BUT.....BEYONCE IS BACK. And ya'll know that I love my girl Bey. She said that she was gonna take six months off after the whole "I Am....Sasha Fierce" era went down (lol) and I don't believe it's been six months. If so, it went by very fast.

Today was the world premire for her new video for a single called "Why Don't You Love Me". Which is a bonus track off the "I Am..Sasha Fierce" album (It wasn't on mine lol). I heard this morning that her sistah Solange helped write and produce this single and I can tell. It's got this funk feel to it and I love Solange and her take on "Funk" music. The video is set in what looks like the late 50's and early 60's. Bey takes on that at home wife (She plays a character named "BB Homemaker" which I think is funny) and she's cryin' on the phone to her man talkin' bout why doesn't he love her no mo' (lol).

My favorite part of the video is when she dusts off her 16 Grammys. Yaaaaasss Bey! You betta SLAY Hunny!! She isn't scared to show you who the heck she is and what impact (she knows) that she has in this "Game".

A lot of folks are mad and bumpin' their gums about Bey's return and this video too. Kelly Rowland, her friend/sistah/former DC band mate, just came out with a new single "Commander" and video for that single. Now you know the usual story?! Why does Beyonce have to steal the shine every time Kelly or Michelle comes out with a project?! To tell you the truth on what I think about...I don't know (lol). I believe that all 3 of these women are free to release project when they want to.

I think it's a shame for people to blame Beyonce when they look at Kelly or Michelle's charts or record sales when they haven't bought their albums at all either. Beyonce is Beyonce because of her fans. Any artist is big, medium, or small because of their fans. So if you're such a "fan" buy an album and stop complainig. Maybe then Kelly and Michelle will be...I'm not gonna say on Bey's level but..they'll be where they need to be. So sick of this topic....

But anyways, I hope you enjoy the video. Can't wait to see more from my girl Bey!

individualism.....

Individualism

the pursuit of individual rather than common or collective interests; egoism.

Like the generations of teenagers before me, I spent time trying to be someone I was not. I made it a point to try to fit in and blend in with the crowd. No matter how hard I tried, it couldn't be done. I was always gonna be myself and I finally got to a point in my life where that was fine for me. Being an individual was what worked ( I wish I had found this out sooner) for me.

There are many ways to explain individualism:
  1. Belief in the primary importance of the individual and in the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence.
  2. Acts or an act based on this belief.
  3. A doctrine advocating freedom from government regulation in the pursuit of a person's economic goals.
  4. A doctrine holding that the interests of the individual should take precedence over the interests of the state or social group.
  5. The quality of being an individual; individuality.
  6. An individual characteristic; a quirk.
We are living in a society were young kids are killing themselves because they are so afraid to be labled as "diffrent". They learn how to hate themselves because they don't fit the status quo. It's sad because they don't see the importance of not fitting in. They way I see it, we are all a crayon in God's  great big crayon box. Earth is his coloring book. Why would He make you the same color as the next or last person He's creating?

If a person won't accept you for who you really are, have a Jay-Z state of mind and move "On to the next". There are millions of people in the United States and there are billions, trillions, of people all around the world. The people in your neigborhood, at your school, even at your church don't really matter at all. They are not the end all to be all! Life is not about caring what others think about you or say about you. God already has his opinion about you and that is the only opinion that should really matter.

Stay you no matter what! Let the other fish swim in their class....

[[Health Care Reform]]

While I was at work yesterday, a historic moment in America came forth (lol). The Health Care Reform bill was passed! This is a real step in putting America to a better future.

Our country is a wealthy (if you'd like to call it that..no..nevermind..we are) and many of American's across the United States are not insured. To me that is a problem. It is your right as a human being to be healthy. To live a long life so you can prosper. Get an education, get married, have kids (if you want to lol)..all of that. So many lives have been cut short because they did not have the funds to pay high hospital bills or for health insurance at all.

I've watched and read many stories of people and how their lives have been affected by not having Health Care or not being able to get the right Health Care because of pre-existing circumstances (Which is a SHAME). I just have to say, for anyone who opposed HCR, you are TACKY. For anyone who tried to get in the way of this coming to pass, you are TACKY. It's crazy how we are one if not the richest country on God's green earth and we couldn't get a handle on this situation.

This is also a victory for President Barack Obama. He promised us that he would fight for HCR and he did. Not only did he do what he said he was gonna do, HE DIDN'T GIVE UP. Two months ago they said that this bill was "dead" but the people who still cared fought...and eventually WON.

Here is what will take place immendiately:
  • Insurance companies can't drop sick patients (which is the work of Satan if you ask me. How could they do such a thing).
  • Free preventiv care can be offred
  • No caps on lifetime benefits
  • Young adults are allowed on their parents policies until age 26
President Obama is expected to sign the bill on Tuesday. This is GREAT!

Howard Stren....hmph.

So yesterday I believe, Howard Stren and his co-host Robin Quivers got to bumping their gums about "Precious" STAR, Gabourey Sidibe. Basically, they trashed her.

Stren called Gabby "the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen". Then this unattractive man went on to say that Gabby should not expect to get anymore roles in Hollywood. Simply because she is to big to play any roles in Hollywood.

I don't know who this man thinks he is but, he is not God. He does not govern what goes on in people's life and the fate of other people. His opinion is trash. He also said that "She's never going to have another shot".

Please! Gabby is a wonderful actress. The woman played the character of Precious real well. She turned herself into another person in my opinion. When you see the film "Precious" and then watch interviews of Gabby, you see two diffent individuals. For someone as "happy go-lucky" to play a depressed individual as good as Gabby did, that must mean that she's a wonderful actress! Then to be nominated for an Oscar, and you have the nerve to say she'll never get another role is BULL.

His co-host Robin Quivers had the nerve to jump in to the convo. "Everybody's pretending she's a part of show business...what part do they have that she can play".

Gabby can play any part that is offred to her! If the have a role for her then they have a role for her. That's what I have to say about that. And who knows if Gabby will stay the size she is forever? Her size does not dictate what type of actress she is.

In other Gabby news: She is set to make appearances on the new Showtime series "The C Word" and she's lined up another big screen roll with Zoe Kravitz (daughter of Lenny) in a movie called "Yeling to the Sky".

So, in your face Stren and Quivers.
