Rest In Peace Lena Horne.....
June 30, 1917 to May 9, 2010
The first time I ever saw Lena Horne perform anything was when I was 5 or 6 years old. I was watching "The Wiz" (which also happens to be my favorite movie of all time!). She played Glinda, the Good Witch of the South and she performed that song at the end "If You Believe In Yourself". Her part in one of my favorite parts in the film even though she's only on screen for what seems like 2 to 5 mintues (lol). I love the way she delivered the song and every time I watch the movie or here that song I will wave my hands in the air and be like "Yaaaassss Lena!" (lol I always say Yaaasss anytime I feel like someone slayed in a song). It's sad to know that she is gone but I know that she is in a better place. And to be abset from the body is to be present with the Lord so I am not gonna be sad for her at all. Rest in Peace Lena!
Lena Horne lead a FULL life. To be in your 90's is a wondeful thing despite the fact that most of us Americans are checking out of here in our 60's and 70's. She did wonderful things with her life also. She performed at The Cotton Club in NY and stared in movies like "Cabin in the Sky" and "Panama Hattie". Lena also released A LOT of albums (lol). She also won numerous awards too. Yes, she lived a full life. RIP Ms. Lena!! You go giiiirrrl!
Now Diana Ross is the only surving cast member of "The Wiz". I'm gonna watch that movie today.
